My name is Jeremy Jacks. I was born in a military family in Jacksonville, Florida, and spent the first 8 years of my life moving around the world. This gave me the opportunity to start seeing the world outside of my small Louisiana home town. Little did I know at the time that I would always be on the move. During my 8th grade year in school, my mother moved me to a school close to where she worked. I am sure she had a good reason for that, I know I was glad because it meant I did not have to deal with the mess I had made due to my lack of interpersonal skills back then. Another side effect of this was that it gave me the opportunity to assist the school photographer. She taught me the basics for curing negatives, exposing photo paper, and running the exposed photograph through some chemical washes. I do not really remember the technical aspects of what I was doing, but I enjoyed it.
I joined the Army after a year hiatus from high school as a Counter-intelligence Agent. I found out the job was not as cool as it sounded, but I also got trained in the use of the 35mm camera for evidence collection. Basically a one week class on taking pictures of trash with an SLR camera. I don't think any of those will win an award. I again did not focus my attention overly on the photography side of life.
Once I got out the first time and got a stable job, I purchased a telescope. The first thing I did with it was lean my camera (a point and shoot affair) against the eyepiece and take pictures of what I could see. I took a lot of pictures of the moon that way and even managed to photograph Jupiter and its four largest moons.
I am now attending an art school in hopes of becoming a better photographer. I want to focus on astralphotography and fine art photography, but we will see how that goes. All albums dated before September 2014 will eventually be moved to the Alternate page as they are all from before i started this field of study and are thus hopefully inferior photographs to what I will be taking. Those are the ones that will be making it onto my albums.
